At Sorensen Science Academy, it has been our instructional focus and goal to be one of the leading schools in the district/county to implement the science curriculum. This year we analyzed the Next Generation Science Standards to integrate them throughout our daily instructional curriculum.

As a school, we have begun to integrate more STEAM activities to enrich our Science curriculum.This year we had several of our teachers attend the National Science Teachers Association Conference to be proactive in the integration of science in our daily schedules. We will continue professional development for all our staff.

This year, we are preparing for teachers to become experts in a STEAM area so that students can further experiment with weekly STEAM rotations throughout Kinder through fifth grade. We are looking to build partnerships with Science based organizations to provide more exposure and opportunities for our students. We are excited to begin this journey. We have received great support from our District leadership and technology department in helping us plan for and accomplish these goals.
